We had a wake up call at 6:30 AM, ate breakfast, checked out
of the hotel and got in a bus to view the Ta Prohm temple. Since the bus could
not get thru the gate we transferred to vans that held from 10 to 15 people near
the entrance to Angkor Wat.
We drove to the Ta Prohm temple. This temple was built in
the late 12th to 13th centuries during the reign of
Jayavarman VII and enlarged by Indravarman II. This temple was abandoned and
the vegetation began to grow in the temple. It was discovered and some of the
vegetation was removed. Today there are several large trees 200 or 300 years old
that got started in the rocks of the temple. The trees growing out from the
walls of the temple is what makes this an interesting temple and was a favorite
stop for many of the people on our tour.
We left the temple and drove back to pick up our big buses
for the ride to the airport. The flight took us to Singapore where we went thru
customs and got on the bus for about a 30-minute drive to the ship. We got to
the ship at about 4:30 PM.
