World Cruise 2013

The ship arrived at Napier, New Zealand at 10:40 AM. Today I took a tour called "Cape Kidnappers Safari".
The tour left the ship and traveled by a 4 x 4 vehicle along the picturesque shores of Hawkes Bay and the rugged coastline of Cape Kidnappers. We drove onto private property in the hill county where we had a view of the International Golf Course before we arrived at the famous gannet colony where we had a close up view of these amazing birds.
The gannets are hatched by November and by May the young birds leave New Zealand for a 2 1/2 week flight to Australia where they remain for about 2 1/2 years and they then return to New Zealand where after they are about 5 years old they breed and remain in New Zealand for the rest of their life.
