World Cruise 2013

In 1865, Wellington became the capital of New Zealand. replacing Auckland, where William Hobson had established his capital in 1841. Wellington is the southernmost capital city in the world. It is more densely populated than most other settlements in New Zealand due to the small amount of building space available between the harbor and the surrounding hills.
I took a tour called "Wellington Sights". Our first stop was at the site of the Government buildings to take pictures of the site. Our next stop was at the Old St. Paul's Church which was completed in 1866 and is built entirely of native wood. Our next stop was to the station where we boarded a cable car for a ride up to Kelburn. We got back on the bus for a short ride to visit the Lady Norwood Rose Gardens where we saw more than 500 varieties of roses and other flowers. Our next stop was a drive to Mt. Victoria for views of the city and the harbor. We got back on the ship and went back to the ship.
